This module will focus on the alignment of digital business strategy with IT strategy. The module also covers how disruption from new technologies are impacting organizations in every industry and how business leaders are responding.

The pace of evolution in the digital world has never been so fast and organizations need to be flexible and adapt to the ever-changing environment if they want to keep providing value to their customers while remaining competitive in the marketplace.

The IT & Digital Strategy module adds a new perspective to the ITIL suite and elevates the discussion around ITIL concepts to a strategic level among business leaders and aspiring leaders.

The module will help IT leaders and aspiring leaders build and implement effective IT and digital strategy that can tackle digital disruption and drive success.

Accredited training for the ITIL 4 Strategic Leader modules is mandatory to enable full understanding of the core material. ITIL 4 Foundation is a prerequisite for ALL modules. In addition, the ITIL Leader modules require a minimum of three years of IT managerial experience.

Prerequisites:

You are required to have successfully attained your ITIL 4 Foundation certificate.

  • Understand why organizations need to change the way they do business in markets disrupted by digital and information technology, and relate this to the concepts of strategy that they will need to master as they make these decisions.
  • Relate the concepts of Digital and IT Strategy, the service value system, and the service value chain and explain how they work together to create value in markets being transformed by digital and information technology.
  • Understand how an organization uses digital and IT strategy to remain viable in environments disrupted by digital technology.
  • Understand strategic approaches made possible by digital and information technology to achieve customer / market relevance and operational excellence.
  • Understand the risk and opportunities of digital and IT strategy.
  • Understand the steps and techniques involved in defining and advocating for a digital and IT strategy.
  • Understand how to implement a digital and IT Strategy.

Class Agenda:

  • The first 2/3 of the course focuses on strategy itself and showing how it follows a similar pattern to continuous service improvement model.
  • The final 1/3 focuses on key capabilities needed to ensure successful digital and IT strategy

    • Managing innovation and emerging technology
    • Managing strategic risk
    • Structuring for digital business

Students will receive an ITIL® 4 Leader – Digital and IT Strategy classroom workbook containing all of the presentation materials, course notes, case study, exam syllabi, and sample exams.

About the Course:

The maximum number of candidates per class is 8.

Candidates attending the class will use a case study to complete 4 practical assignments.  Successful completion of the 4 assignments will be a pre-requisite for the certification exam.

About the Exam:

The exam is included with the course, but successful completion of the practical assignments is required prior to testing.

The exam is a closed book exam that consists of 30 multiple multiple-choice questions with four
options (same format as an ITIL Foundation exam).

The pass rate is set at 70% (21 correct answers) and the available time is 60 minutes.
